Call Me Crazy

Welcome to Call Me Crazy- this is a different kind of mental health blog. It is the kind of mental health blog that provides insight into the hopeless, hapless and hopefully hilarious internal dialogue that goes on between myself and my delightful unwanted sidekick, Crazy Steve, otherwise known as my OCD or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Chronicles of Crazy Steve

Greetings readers…

It’s a fun deal right, when all you want to do is live a normal life and yet you end up being diagnosed with a plethora of mental health issues that make this seem impossible. I’m sure I’m not the only one. Anxiety, Depression, OCD, with an added sprinkle of Autism Spectrum Discorder or ASD. After a childhood illness, my parents were told that there was a 10-20% chance that I would live a normal life.

But hey, let’s skip from the sob story shall we? Something they teach you in therapy is how to label those difficult thoughts and feelings. It helps to separate them from yourself, almost making them into a separate person or, perhaps even more appropriately named, a separate demon 😈

So of course, I set about naming my debilitating OCD and intrusive thoughts and I chose to name them Crazy Steve, after the psychotic character in one of my favorite childhood TV shows, Drake and Josh (only millennial kids will remember 😂).

I have wanted to start a blog for a while, but honestly I wasn’t even sure what I wanted to write about. Despite all of the stuff I have been through, trust me when I say that there is LOTS more to me than that. For example… my name is Anneli, I’m 28 years old and my interests include reality TV, sea swimming, cuddling animals and overthinking 😅  I was considering writing a lifestyle/ fashion blog, given my love of charity shops and vintage fashion, but deep down I always knew that I wanted to share my story. I have always been an introvert and I can count the number of real friends I have on one hand, however there are still countless people that follow me on social media, more like acquaintances, who don’t really know the first thing about me and why I am the way I am. The quiet one, generally that’s how people often see me. But I’m staying silent no longer. This is my mental health story. These dialogues give some insight into what actually goes on in my mind and the endless back-and-forth between me and my internal demon, Crazy Steve. Hopeless, hilarious and hopefully relatable- that’s what I’m going for here. Keep an eye out for some guest bloggers in the near future and hopefully this can be a place where all members of the Call Me Crazy can share their mental health story! 😊
